TAMA COUNTY CONSERVATION BOARD NOW HIRING- FULL TIME, PERMANENT POSITION DIRECTOR DESCRIPTION: This is a full-time, FLSA exempt position. Performs such duties as defined by Section 350 of the Code of Iowa. Performs a wide variety of professional and administrative duties related to the management of parks, recreation and wildlife areas. Coordinates, plans, and administers conservation and recreation programs in the county at the directions of the County Conservation Board. The Tama County Conservation Board offers a diverse outdoor recreation program providing a variety of program activities. The Board operates and maintains 15 land units consisting of nearly 1,100 acres. Performs related work as required. Weekend, holiday, and evening work will be required.
EDUCATION/ EXPERIENCE: Graduation from a four (4) year college or university with major course work in natural resources, outdoor recreation, or a related natural science field and two (2) years of experience in natural resources management and or program administration or equivalent training and experience. The Conservation Board may change these requirements as needed.
QUALIFICATIONS: Useful if candidate has some of the following training and subsequent certification where applicable in the following program fields: landscape planning and care, turf grass management, woodland management, firearms and boater safety, financial grants and aide, wildlife management, and personnel management. Commercial chemical applicator license by the Department of Agriculture, CPR certification, CDL, Peace Officer certified by ILEA, and Hunter Education.
Ability to qualify for, attend, and complete peace officer training through the Iowa Law Enforcement Academy, if required. This job is contingent upon successful completion of a background check.
SALARY RANGE: $49,000- $52,000 per year with standard county benefits and uniform. Director will be required to live on site in residence provided by the Board and must move into residence within four months of date of hire. Tama County is an equal opportunity employer.
