Board of Supervisors Minutes
May 3, 2021

The Tama County Board of Supervisors met at 9:30 a.m. May 3, 2021.  Present: 1st District Supervisor, Larry Vest; 2nd District Supervisor, Bill Faircloth and 3rd District Supervisor, Dan Anderson.

Motion by Faircloth, seconded by Anderson to approve the minutes of the April 26th regular meeting.   All voted aye.  Motion carried

The Board met with Lyle Brehm, Tama County Engineer, to get a road projects report.  He presented the Board a resolution setting speed limits on a couple of roads near the motor cross track after hearing concerns from the public and the Sheriff.  Motion by Anderson, seconded by Faircloth to approve the following resolution:
RESOLUTION 5-3-2021A
RESOLUTION FOR ESTABLISHING A SPEED LIMIT
WHEREAS, the Board of Supervisors is empowered under authority of Iowa Code Sections 321.255 and 321.285 to determine the speed limit of any secondary road is greater than is reasonable and proper under the conditions existing, and may determine and declare a reasonable and proper speed limit, and
WHEREAS, the Oak Ridge MX facility has caused increased traffic on D Avenue and 280th Street southwest of Garwin,
THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED the following speed limits are established effective immediately, and appropriate signs shall be erected at the locations described as follows;
35 mph on D Avenue from C Avenue to 280th Street, and
35 mph on 280th Street from D Avenue to Highway T47.
Roll Call Vote: Vest, aye. Faircloth, aye.  Anderson, aye.  Resolution passed and adopted this 3rd day of May, 2021.  Larry Vest, Chairman, Board of Supervisors.  Laura Kopsa, County Auditor.

Todd Apfel, Zoning Administrator, was present to let the Supervisors know that he has received a resignation from Frances Bacon, who served on the Board of Adjustment.  He has found a replacement, Nikki Novak from Toledo, and would like the Supervisors to approve her as a new member on that Board to fill out Ms. Bacon’s term.  Motion by Faircloth, seconded by Anderson                        to appoint Nikki Novak, Toledo, to the Board of Adjustment.  All voted aye.  Motion carried.

Motion by Anderson, seconded by Faircloth to approve the claims for payment as presented.  All voted aye.  Motion carried.

Chairman Vest adjourned the meeting at 9:47 a.m.
