Board of Supervisors Minutes
July 19, 2021
The Tama County Board of Supervisors met at 9:30 a.m. July 19, 2021. Present: 1st District Supervisor, Larry Vest; 2nd District Supervisor, Bill Faircloth and 3rd District Supervisor, Dan Anderson, by phone.
Motion by Anderson, seconded by Faircloth to approve the minutes of the July 12th regular meeting. All voted aye. Motion carried
The Board met with Lyle Brehm, Tama County Engineer, to get a road projects report.
At 9:30 the Supervisors held a public hearing to reclassify a portion of O Avenue in Perry Township. Public comments: Were in favor of it with setbacks for the gate. Chairman Vest closed the public hearing at 9:32 am. Motion by Faircloth, seconded by Anderson to approve the following resolution:
WHEREAS, Tama County desires to classify certain roads on the Area Service System in the County to provide for a minimal level of maintenance and to restrict access by means of a gate or barrier, and
WHEREAS, the County Board of Supervisors, after consultation with the County Engineer, has the authority to specify certain roads within the County as Area Service ‘C’ roads pursuant to Iowa Code Section 309.57 and Tama County Ordinance Number 1-2-2008D, and
WHEREAS, the County Engineer has requested to reclassify O Avenue from 180th Street to the residence at 1714 O Avenue to an Area Service ‘C’ road, and
WHEREAS, a public hearing was held at 9:30 am on July 19th, 2021 to discuss the reclassification, and
WHEREAS, there were no objections but input was sought out from adjoining landowners subsequent to the hearing, and
WHEREAS, it is understood that the level of maintenance applied to the road will be as listed in Tama County Ordinance Number 1-8-2008D, and
WHEREAS, the only persons who will have access right to the road shall be;
THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED by the Tama County Board of Supervisors that
O Avenue from 180th Street to the residence at 1714 O Avenue
shall be classified as an Area Service ‘C’ road, and shall have restricted access and a minimal amount of maintenance. The County Engineer is authorized to periodically place a light amount of rock on the road.
Roll Call Vote: Vest, aye. Faircloth, aye. Anderson, aye. Resolution passed and adopted this 19th day of July, 2021. Larry Vest, Chairman, Tama County Board of Supervisors. Laura Kopsa, County Auditor.
Motion by Faircloth, seconded by Anderson to approve the Recorder’s Quarterly Report. All voted aye. Motion carried.
Motion by Anderson, seconded by Faircloth to approve the Auditor’s Quarterly Report. All voted aye. Motion carried.
Motion by Faircloth, seconded by Anderson to approve the claims for payment as presented. All voted aye. Motion carried.
Chairman Vest adjourned the meeting at 9:48 a.m.
