Board of Supervisors Minutes
August 30, 2021

The Tama County Board of Supervisors met at 9:30 a.m. August 30, 2021.  Present: 1st District Supervisor, Larry Vest; 2nd District Supervisor, Bill Faircloth and 3rd District Supervisor, Dan Anderson.

Motion by Anderson, seconded by Faircloth to approve the minutes of the August 23rd regular meeting.   All voted aye.  Motion carried

The Board met with Lyle Brehm, Tama County Engineer, to get a road projects report.

Tammy Wise, Insurance Administrator, visited with the Board about American Rescue Plan funding.  Tama County is eligible to receive up to $3.2 million.  She would like to have a volunteer committee of five to help determine what projects to apply the funds to.  She will be sending out an email regarding this. 

Motion by Anderson, seconded by Faircloth to change next week’s meeting to Tuesday September 7th due to the Labor Day Holiday.  All voted aye.  Motion carried. 

Marty Wymore from Region 6 was present to ask the Supervisors for their support of the Region 6 Housing Trust Fund in Tama County.  The County’s share for this year would be $12,004.00.  Motion by Anderson, seconded by Faircloth to approve the following resolution as presented by Region 6 Planning Commission:
RESOLUTION NO. 8-30-2021A
A RESOLUTION TO APPROVE THE REGION 6 HOUSING TRUST FUND
TAMA COUNTY CASH CONTRIBUTION
Whereas the Region 6 Housing Trust Fund can annually apply for approximately $337,295 of Iowa Finance Authority State Housing Trust Funds if the trust fund secures $64,087 of local contributions, and
Whereas the per capita state share for Tama County is $63,175 if $12,004 of local assistance is secured, and
Whereas the housing trust fund continues to seek applications for owner occupied housing improvements across the region which will be prioritized based upon housing needs, and
Whereas all the applicants must have annual incomes under 80% of the county median as determined by HUD.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE BOARD OF SUPERVISORS OF TAMA COUNTY:
Section 1: Tama County will provide $12,004 of cash assistance in FY 2021/2022.

Motion by Faircloth, seconded by Anderson to approve the claims for payment as presented.  All voted aye.  Motion carried. Chairman Vest adjourned the meeting at 10:13 a.m.
