Board of Supervisors Minutes
March 18, 2020
The Tama County Board of Supervisors met at 10:00 a.m. March 18, 2020 for a special session. Present: 1st District Supervisor, Larry Vest; 2nd District Supervisor, Kendall Jordan. 3rd District Supervisor, Dan Anderson, was present by phone.
With the recent Corona/COVID-19 virus outbreak and concerns, there have been discussions with department heads regarding safety issues for clients and employees of the County and the Board feels action needs to be taken to reduce the risk to everyone. Motion by Jordan, seconded by Anderson to approve the following resolution:
A RESOLUTION REGARDING THE CORONA/COVID-19 VIRUS
WHEREAS, in consideration of public health concerns over the COVID-19 virus and community-wide efforts to slow its spread and;
WHEREAS, Tama County would like to take action to aid in this,
NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, as of March 18, 2020, the Tama County Administration Buildings & all Tama County Offices will still be conducting business. Although exterior doors of buildings may be locked; the public is encouraged to contact Tama County Offices by telephone, fax, or other electronic means to conduct business until further notice. Matters which require immediate attention will be handled as efficiently as possible.
Roll call vote: Vest, Aye. Jordan, Aye. Anderson, aye. Motion carried. Resolution passed and adopted this 18th day of March, 2020. Larry Vest, Vice Chairman, Board of Supervisors. Laura Kopsa, County Auditor.
The Supervisors also discussed the need for parents of children 14 and under to be home with them. Motion by Anderson, seconded by Jordan to allow employees with children 14 and under to use sick days if needed to take care of children at home during this outbreak provided there are no other options available. This will be reviewed on a weekly basis if needed. All voted aye. Motion carried.
The Supervisors weekly meetings will be held electronically via Zoom until further notice.
Vice Chairman Vest adjourned the meeting at 10:15 am.
