Board of Supervisors Minutes
June 29, 2020

The Tama County Board of Supervisors met at 9:30 a.m. June 29, 2020.  Present:  1st District Supervisor, Larry Vest; 2nd District Supervisor, Kendall Jordan and 3rd District Supervisor, Dan Anderson.

Motion by Vest, seconded by Jordan to approve the minutes of the June 22nd regular meeting.   All voted aye.  Motion carried

The Board met with Lyle Brehm, Tama County Engineer, to get a road projects report.

Motion by Vest, seconded by Jordan to appoint Kevin Eikamp, Dysart, to the Veterans Affairs Board as recommended by Elizabeth Ledvina, VA Director.  He is replacing Dennis Steinmetz, who moved out of the County.  All voted Aye.  Motion Carried.

The Board met with Tammy Wise, HR/Insurance Administrator.  She had previously presented the Heartland Insurance Risk Pool Authorization to Bind Coverage and would like the Board to take action on this now that they have looked it over.  Motion by Jordan, seconded by Vest to approve and authorize the Chair to sign the Heartland Risk Pool Insurance Authorization to Bind Coverage for Tama County.  All voted aye.  Motion carried.   She also discussed streamlining the county job posting procedure to make it uniform for all county offices. Motion by Jordan, seconded by Vest to approve the County Job Posting Policy and update it in the County Employee Handbook.  A copy of this will be sent to all department heads.  All voted aye.  Motion carried.

The Board met with Logan Roberts, Conservation Director, and got an update on the lake restoration and the activity at the lake so far this spring.  The Conservation Board has approved removal of the Maria Hladik Roadside Park, north of Toledo on Highway 63 and would like to set a public hearing to dispose of the property through sealed bid.  Motion by Jordan, seconded by Vest to set a public hearing to dispose of the Maria Hladik Roadside Park 2455 Hwy 63, Toledo, in Section 15 of Howard Township for Monday July 20th at 10:00 a.m.  All voted aye.  Motion carried.

Motion by Vest, seconded by Jordan to approve the following resolution to authorize the Treasurer to transfer funds as follows:
RESOLUTION 6-29-2020A
BE IT RESOLVED, that the Tama County Board of Supervisors hereby approves the 2021 fiscal year transfer of funds from General Basic Fund (0001) and Rural Services Fund (0011) to the Secondary Road Fund (0020) as follows:
From the General Fund (0001) to the Secondary Road Fund (0020)  $  182,554*
From the Rural Fund (0011) to the Secondary Road Fund (0020)     $2,356,656*
                                                                      TOTAL TRANSFER    $ 2,539,210*
And authorizes the County Treasurer to transfer a portion of the funds calculated by a percentage each month after the apportionment of property taxes is received by the General Fund (4.915 percent)** and Rural Services Fund (100.00 percent)** of property tax, not to exceed the limit of the total transfer stated above.
