Board of Supervisors Minutes
June 15, 2020
The Tama County Board of Supervisors met at 9:30 a.m. June 15, 2020 by phone during the COVID-19 crisis due to the fact that the Administration Building is locked to the public without an appointment, all future meetings will be held this way until further notice. Present: 1st District Supervisor, Larry Vest; 2nd District Supervisor, Kendall Jordan and 3rd District Supervisor, Dan Anderson.
Motion by Jordan, seconded by Vest to approve the minutes of the June 8th regular meeting. All voted aye. Motion carried
Tammy Wise, HR/Insurance Administrator, was present to discuss the Infectious Disease Action Policy with the Supervisors. There were some minor changes suggested by the Iowa Department of Public Health and since the plan was first approved on April 2, 2020. A revised copy of the plan will be sent to all employees. Motion by Vest, seconded by Jordan to approve the updated Tama County Infectious Disease Action Plan. All voted aye. Motion carried.
She also presented the Heartland Insurance Risk Pool Renewal for signature. This was approved at an earlier meeting.
She also shared an estimate for an AeroClave Room Decontamination System to be used in Tama County buildings to sanitize entire rooms. The cost for this is $14,443.00. The expenditure for this was approved on June 1st in the 2020 budget amendments.
The Board also reviewed a construction permit application for a hog confinement expansion for Nahala Farms, LLC, Comet Finisher Site, in Section 21 of Howard Township. Supervisors Anderson and Jordan went out and inspected the sight and they recommend the Board approve it. Motion by Vest, seconded by Jordan to accept the application from Nahala Farms, LLC, Comet Finisher Site, for a hog confinement construction application in Section 21 Howard Township. All voted aye. Motion carried.
The Supervisors have received a 3 year contract renewal covering fiscal years 2020 through 2022 with Cost Advisory Services, Inc. Johnston, IA. The annual fee remains the same as the last 3 years at $4,125.00. Motion by Jordan, seconded by Vest to approve the 3 year contract with Cost Advisory Services, Inc. All voted aye. Motion carried.
Motion by Jordan, seconded by Vest to approve the claims for payment as presented. All voted aye. Motion carried.
Chairman Anderson adjourned the meeting at 10:48 a.m.
