Board of Supervisors Minutes
August 24, 2020

The Tama County Board of Supervisors met at 9:30 a.m. August 24, 2020.  Present:  1st District Supervisor, Larry Vest; 2nd District Supervisor, Kendall Jordan and 3rd District Supervisor, Dan Anderson.

Motion by Jordan, seconded by Vest to approve the minutes of the August 17th regular meeting.   All voted aye.  Motion carried

Motion by Vest, seconded by Jordan to approve the following resolution as presented by Region 6 Planning Commission:
RESOLUTION NO. 8-24-2020A
A RESOLUTION TO APPROVE THE REGION 6 HOUSING TRUST FUND
TAMA COUNTY CASH CONTRIBUTION

Whereas the Region 6 Housing Trust Fund can annually apply for approximately $259,092 of Iowa Finance Authority State Housing Trust Funds if the trust fund secures $64,773 of local contributions, and
Whereas the per capita state share for Tama County is $48,528 if $12,132 of local assistance is secured, and
Whereas the housing trust fund continues to seek applications for owner occupied housing improvements across the region which will be prioritized based upon housing needs, and
Whereas all the applicants must have annual incomes under 80% of the county median as determined by HUD.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE BOARD OF SUPERVISORS OF TAMA COUNTY:
Section 1: Tama County will provide $12,132 of cash assistance in FY 2021/2022.

Motion by Jordan, seconded by Vest to approve the following disaster declaration (previously signed on August 11th as an emergency action) for Tama County:
TAMA COUNTY LOCAL DISASTER DECLARATION
Tama County has suffered from a Derecho type incident that occurred on this 10th day of August 2020, causing severe damage to public and private property, disruption of utility service and endangerment of health and safety of the citizens of Tama County within the disaster area.  Therefore, the County Board of Supervisors of Tama County have declared a state of emergency authorized under Iowa State Statue and will execute the expenditure of emergency funds from all available sources, invoking of mutual aid agreements, and applying to the State of Iowa for assistance.

All voted aye.  Motion carried.

 

Motion by Vest, seconded by Jordan to approve an application for Veteran’s Disability that was signed and turned in on time but misplaced.  All voted aye.  Motion carried.

Motion by Jordan, seconded by Vest to approve the claims for payment as presented.  All voted aye.  Motion carried.

Chairman Anderson adjourned the meeting at 9:55 a.m.
