The Board met with Lyle Brehm, Tama County Engineer, to get a road projects report.
The Board discussed issues and some of the action already taken due to the current derecho disaster that occurred on August 10th. Most offices lost power and internet connection. The Board heard from some of the Department Heads that were able to be present. Some are back up already and some are not, some have employees who are able to work remotely from home if they have power. The Board encouraged everyone to do what they can when they can. Employees who are unable to work due to lack of electricity at work and home will be paid their regular wages during that time.
There has been a Presidential Federal Disaster declared which opens up funding and FEMA funds are also available. Both of these will help with providing funds for recovery costs and possibly help with purchasing more generators. All departments will need to keep detailed lists of items, hours, damage, etc. affected by this current disaster. EMA and the Insurance Administrator will be coordinating this
Motion by Vest, seconded by Jordan to appoint Mike Seda, Traer, to fill a vacancy on the Board of Adjustment. This term will run for 5 years. All voted aye. Motion carried.
There were no claims to approve this week.
Chairman Anderson adjourned the meeting at 10:02 a.m.
