Board of Supervisors Minutes
April 6, 2020

The Tama County Board of Supervisors met at 9:30 a.m. April 6, 2020 electronically via Zoom. During the COVID-19 crisis, all future meetings will be held this way until further notice.  To participate/listen/watch the meeting, you may join through Zoom, Meeting ID: 883 806 335, by phone 1 253 215 8782 US or 1 301 715 8592 US.  If you have something you want to put on the agenda for consideration, please call or email the Auditor’s office. 
Present via Zoom:  1st District Supervisor, Larry Vest; 2nd District Supervisor, Kendall Jordan and 3rd District Supervisor, Dan Anderson.

Motion by Vest, seconded by Jordan to approve the minutes of the March 30th regular meeting and April 2nd special meeting.   All voted aye.  Motion carried

The Board looked over and reviewed the Tama County, Iowa Infectious Disease Plan, COVID-19 Pandemic as recommended by the CDC and Iowa Department of Public Health.  Motion by Jordan, seconded by Vest to approve the Tama County, Iowa Infectious Disease Plan, COVID-19 Pandemic.  All voted aye.  Motion carried.

Tammy Wise, Insurance Administrator, shared information from Wellmark that their fully insured members will have no cost-share (co-pays, coinsurance or deductible) related to appropriate treatment for COVID-19 when seeking care from an in-network provider.  Effective February 4 through June 16, 2020.  Wellmark is the company that administers Tama County’s health insurance plan and will do this with Tama County members unless the County opts out of this approach.  The Supervisors would like more time to look this over and consider.  No action taken.  Tabled until next week.

On March 16th the Supervisors took action to join Region 10 for the Iowa Workforce Investment Board.  This was denied by Region 10 due to the fact that they felt they were at their limit for member counties.  Motion by Vest, seconded by Jordan to rescind the motion from March 16th to approve Region 6 joining Region 10 for the Iowa Workforce Investment Board.  All voted aye.  Motion carried.

Due to the fact that Region 6 was denied joining Region 10 for the Iowa Workforce Investment Board there was a motion by Jordan, seconded by Vest to approve Region 6 joining Region 15 for the Iowa Workforce Investment Board.  All voted aye.  Motion carried.

The Board has received a construction permit application for a hog confinement expansion in Section 16 Howard Township from Prime Farms, LLC.  Chairman Anderson has been out to inspect the site and recommends the Board approve it.  Motion by Jordan, seconded by Vest to accept the application from Prime Farms, LLC for a hog confinement construction application in Howard Township.  All voted aye.  Motion carried. 

 

Motion by Vest, seconded by Jordan to approve the claims for payment as presented.  All voted aye.  Motion carried.

Chairman Anderson adjourned the meeting at 9:59 a.m.
