Board of Supervisors Minutes
April 27, 2020
The Tama County Board of Supervisors met at 9:30 a.m. April 27, 2020 electronically via Zoom. During the COVID-19 crisis, all future meetings will be held this way until further notice. Present via Zoom: 1st District Supervisor, Larry Vest; 2nd District Supervisor, Kendall Jordan and 3rd District Supervisor, Dan Anderson.
Motion by Jordan, seconded by Vest to approve the minutes of the April 20th regular meeting, the April 21st special meeting and the April 24th special meeting. All voted aye. Motion carried
The Board met with Lyle Brehm, Tama County Engineer, to get a road projects report.
The Board met with Michelle Yuska, Treasurer, and Josh Wheeler, Tama, to discuss a tax sale certificate he would like assigned to him. It is Tax Sale Certificate #14-0197 for Parcel number 14-27-454-009 at 105 West 8th Street in Tama. The total amount due is $746.00. Mr. Wheeler is asking the Board to waive the $203.00 in interest and he will pay the balance of $543.00. He is aware that there will be a certificate charge and filing fees he will need to pay. Motion by Vest, seconded by Jordan to reassign Tax Sale Certificate #14-0197 to Josh Wheeler for $543.00. All voted aye. Motion carried.
Ms. Yuska also reported that the State has suspended the June tax sale until further notice. She will inform the board when this is reset.
Motion by Jordan, seconded by Vest to approve property tax suspensions on properties owned by the following people:
Llana Bennett Montour Parcel 730-1321453005 Current & Special Assessment Tax
Penny Mathes Tama Parcel 550-1427490002 Current Tax
Patricia McKinney Traer Parcel 420-0236100009 Current Tax
Mark & Rita Matteson Tama Parcel 550-1427458006 Current Tax
Terry Smith Montour Parcel 730-1321378006 Current Tax
These have been verified by the Department of Human Resources as being eligible for the suspension. All voted aye. Motion carried.
The Board met with Wesley Ray, Assessor, to get and update on the reappraisal project.
The Board discussed the need for electronic meetings and have agreed to keep meeting this way for at least two more weeks possibly four. They will address this again in two weeks.
Motion by Vest, seconded by Jordan to approve the claims for payment as presented. All voted aye. Motion carried.
Chairman Anderson adjourned the meeting at 10:05 a.m.
