Board of Supervisors Minutes
March 11, 2019

The Tama County Board of Supervisors met at 9:30 a.m. March 11, 2019.  Present:  1st District Supervisor, Larry Vest; 2nd District Supervisor, Kendall Jordan and 3rd District Supervisor, Dan Anderson.

Motion by Anderson, seconded by Vest to approve the minutes of the March 4th regular meeting.   All voted aye.  Motion carried. 

Motion by Vest, seconded by Anderson to approve the use of the courthouse lawn for an Easter egg hunt put on by the Presbyterian Church on Saturday April 20th from 1pm to 3pm.  All voted aye.  Motion carried.

At 10:00 the Board held a public hearing to receive comments on the proposed county budget for Fiscal Year 2019-2020.  There were no public comments.  Chairman Jordan closed the public hearing at 10: 02 am.   Motion by Vest, seconded by Anderson to approve the total amount of property taxes levied of $9,650,405 for the 2019-2020 fiscal year budget and to approve the following resolution:
RESOLUTION 3-11-2019A
The Board of Supervisors of Tama County hereby approves and adopts the 2019-2020 fiscal year budget making the total property taxes levied $9,650,405.  This is using the same tax levy rates there that were levied last year.  The Board further notes that the budget was published in official newspapers for Tama County and orders the budget to be certified and filed with/by the Tama County Auditor, as required by law.

Motion by Anderson, seconded by Vest to approve the following resolution:
RESOLUTION 3-11-2019B
WHEREAS, the Tama County Compensation Board meets annually to recommend a compensation schedule for elected officials for the fiscal year immediately following, in accordance with Iowa Code Chapters 331.905 and 331.907, and
WHEREAS, the Tama County Compensation Board met on December 17, 2018, and made the following salary recommendations for the following elected officials for the fiscal year beginning July 1, 20­19:

WHEREAS, on January 7, 2019 the Board of Supervisors met and approved the Compensation Board’s recommendations as presented.  
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Tama County Board of Supervisors approves the following salary adjustments for the following elected officials for the fiscal year beginning July 1, 2019:

Motion by Vest, seconded by Anderson to approve the claims for payment as presented.  All voted aye.  Motion carried.

Chairman Jordan adjourned the meeting at 10:05 a.m.
