Board of Supervisors Minutes
April 1, 2019

The Tama County Board of Supervisors met at 9:30 a.m. April 1, 2019.  Present:  1st District Supervisor, Larry Vest; 2nd District Supervisor, Kendall Jordan and 3rd District Supervisor, Dan Anderson.

Motion by Vest, seconded by Anderson to approve the minutes of the March 25th regular meeting.   All voted aye.  Motion carried. 

Motion by Anderson, seconded by Vest to set the canvas for the Iowa Valley Community College District election held on April 2nd for Tuesday April 9th at 8 am in the Supervisors meeting room.  All voted aye.  Motion carried.

The Board presented years of service awards, along with the Board’s appreciation, to the following employees:
5 Years:  Jammie Riffey,  CPC, Sean Gehring, Sheriff, Mindy Benson, EMA,911, Todd Sawyer, Roads, Darla Thiessen, Treasurer, Shane White, Roads
10 Years:  Tracy Hathaway, Public Health, Kendall Jordan, Board of Supervisors, Gayle Walker, Public Health
15 Years:  Linda Beltz, Sheriff, Jolynn Harger, Public Health, Maureen Kratoska, Auditor
20 Years:  Michael Blohm, Roads, Dirk Henle, Maintenance, Tom Novak, Roads, Stacy Skala, Roads, William Suchanek, Roads
25 Years:  Lavonne Richter, Landfill
35 Years:  Lori Dixon-Johnson, Public Health, Dennis Kucera, Sheriff
40 Years:  Debra Burnes, Sheriff, Robert Etzel, Conservation

At 10:00, the Board held a public hearing for a budget amendment for the 2018-2019 Fiscal Year.  The Board reviewed the amendment.  There were no public comments.  The hearing ended at 10:03.             Motion by Vest, seconded by Anderson to approve the following resolution to amend the 2018-2019 county budget expenditures as published:
RESOLUTION 4-1-2019A
BE IT RESOLVED, that the Tama County Board of Supervisors hereby approves the amendment to the 2018-2019 County Budget expenditures as follows:

Total amendment $1,202,995.  Of this amount $1,197,995 will be reimbursed to offset it.  The difference is $5,000.
Roll call vote:  Vest, aye.  Jordan, aye.  Anderson, aye. Resolution passed and approved this 1st day of April, 2019.  Kendall Jordan, Chairman, Board of Supervisors.  Laura Kopsa, Tama County Auditor.

Motion by Anderson, seconded by Vest to approve the following resolution to appropriate the funds for the 2018-2019 county budget expenditures as amended:

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the foregoing amendment is appropriated to department budgets as follows:
Supervisors                        (1)         $1,000,000           Capital projects – radio upgrade
Human Resources           (8)         $5,000                   Unforeseeable regional changes
Public Health                      (23)        $195,435              Grants received not budgeted
Maintenance                     (51)        $2,560                   Lighting upgrades, reimbursed by rebates

Motion by Vest, seconded by Anderson to approve the claims for payment as presented.  All voted aye.  Motion carried.
