Board of Supervisors Minutes
September 17, 2018
The Tama County Board of Supervisors met at 9:30 a.m. September 17, 2018. Present: 1st District Supervisor, Larry Vest; 2nd District Supervisor, Kendall Jordan and 3rd District Supervisor, Dan Anderson.
Motion by Anderson, seconded by Jordan to approve the minutes of the September 10th regular meeting. All voted aye. Motion carried.
The Board met with Lyle Brehm, Tama County Engineer, to get a road projects report.
The Board met with Jim Roan, Wieting Theatre Chair, to discuss possible funding for ongoing theatre renovations. They have now completed Phase II Part A and are getting ready to start Phase II Part B. The theatre has received an Enhance Iowa (CAT) Grant for Part B and are asking the County for their match up to $10,000. It was noted that the grant for Part A was in the amount of $74,176.00. The County match grant states it will be for 10% up to $10,000. It has been discovered that the County grant given for Part A was in the amount of $10,000 and should have been $7,417.60. Motion by Anderson, seconded by Jordan to issue the Enhance Iowa Tama County Grant to the Wieting Theatre and Opera House Phase II Part B project in the amount of $7,417.60 due to the overpayment on the previous grant. All voted aye. Motion carried.
The Board met with Ivy Sievers, Tama. She was present to talk about internet service to the rural areas of Tama County. It is difficult and expensive to get service to the rural areas and she has learned of some possible grants available to help get service out to the rural areas. The Board referred Ms. Sievers to the Tama County Economic Development Director to see if he would be able to facilitate and look into these grants.
Motion by Anderson, seconded by Jordan to approve the claims for payment as presented. All voted aye. Motion carried.
Chairman Vest adjourned the meeting at 10:12 a.m.
