Board of Supervisors Minutes
December 3, 2018

The Tama County Board of Supervisors met at 9:30 a.m. December 3, 2018.  Present:  1st District Supervisor, Larry Vest; 2nd District Supervisor, Kendall Jordan and 3rd District Supervisor, Dan Anderson.

Motion by Anderson, seconded by Jordan to approve the minutes of the November 26th regular meeting.   All voted aye.  Motion carried. 

The Board met with Lyle Brehm, Tama County Engineer, to get a road projects report.  Mr. Brehm visited with the Board about setting up a public hearing for a possible road reclassification in Carlton Township.  Motion by Jordan, seconded by Anderson to approve the following resolution:
Resolution No. 12-3-2018A
WHEREAS, a request from the County Engineer has been filed with the Tama County Board of Supervisors asking that action be taken reclassify a section of Tama County Secondary Road from Area Service “A” to Area Service “C”, and
WHEREAS, the road requested for reclassification is a portion of D Avenue between 250th Street and Highway E27, all lying in Sections 15 & 16, T84N, R16W (Carlton Township) of Tama County, Iowa, and
WHEREAS, this request is prompted by contact with a landowner,
THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that a hearing on the proposed reclassification will be held in accordance with Iowa Code Chapter 309.57. Said meeting shall take place at 9:30 am on Monday, December 17, 2018 at the Supervisors meeting room, 104 West State Street, Toledo, IA.
All voted aye.  Motion carried.

The Board met with Mindy Benson, EMA/911 Director, to discuss a project for new radios.  Her 911/EMA Boards have met and have decided to go pursue a contract with RACOM, Marshalltown, for the project.  Ms. Benson stressed the fact that the current system is becoming obsolete and a plan needs to be put in place soon to get the radio system and radios updated with current technology.  The proposal is for $6,587,172.05 and would require the County to bond for that amount.  The Supervisors took this under advisement, no action taken at this time.

Motion by Jordan, seconded by Anderson to appoint Bryan Wacha, Tama, to the County Conservation Board.  He will be replacing Ellen Graff, Tama, who has resigned.  Her term expires 12-31-18.  All voted aye.  Motion carried. 

Motion by Anderson, seconded by Jordan to re-appoint Nick Podhajsky, Traer, as one of the Supervisors representatives on the Compensation Board.  This tern will run through 6-30-2022.  All voted aye.  Motion carried.


Motion by Anderson, seconded by Jordan to approve the claims for payment as presented.  All voted aye.  Motion carried.
