Board of Supervisors Minutes
October 23, 2017
The Tama County Board of Supervisors met at 9:30 a.m. October 23, 2017. Present: 1st District Supervisor, Larry Vest; 2nd District Supervisor, Kendall Jordan and 3rd District Supervisor, Dan Anderson.
Motion by Jordan, seconded by Vest to approve the minutes of the October 16th regular meeting. All voted aye. Motion carried.
The Board met with Lyle Brehm, Tama County Engineer, to get a road projects report.
The Meskwaki Youth Group has asked for a temporary road closure of 340th Street for a Glow Run to be held on Thursday October 26th. This is something they do annually. Motion by Vest, seconded by Jordan to approve the following resolution for a temporary road closure of 340th Street for a Glow Run to be held on October 26th from 7 to 9 pm:
WHEREAS, the Meskwaki Nation is planning a fun run for Domestic Violence Awareness on Thursday, October 26th, 2017, and
WHEREAS, they have requested a temporary closure for a portion of 340th Street west of US 63 to facilitate the event,
THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED the Tama County Board of Supervisors directs 340th Street between US 63 and 1836 340th Street to be closed on October 26th, 2017, from 7:00 pm to 9:00 pm.
Roll Call Vote: Vest, aye. Jordan, aye. Anderson, aye. Resolution passed and adopted this 23rd day of October, 2017. Dan Anderson, Chairman, Board of Supervisors. Laura Kopsa, County Auditor.
The Board met with Kristine Nucatola to discuss a tax sale certificate on a property in Elberon.
She is interested in purchasing the abandoned home next to hers. It has a Tama County Tax Sale Certificate on it (17-0217) that has $900 in taxes, penalties and interest due on it. She has received a quit claim deed to the property and is offering to pay 65% of what is due on the certificate which is $585. This will allow her to renovate the home and property and get it back on the county tax roll. Motion by Vest, seconded by Jordan to abate all taxes, penalties and interest due on Parcel 210-1614231005, Tax Sale Certificate #17-0217 in Elberon after the transfer of the property by quit claim deed to Christine Nucatola. All voted aye. Motion carried.
Motion by Jordan, seconded by Vest to approve the claims for payment as presented. All voted aye. Motion carried.
Chairman Anderson adjourned the meeting at 10:05 a.m.
