Board of Supervisors Minutes
February 13, 2017

The Tama County Board of Supervisors met at 9:30 a.m. February 13, 2017.  Present:  1st District Supervisor, Larry Vest and 3rd District Supervisor, Dan Anderson.  2nd District Supervisor, Kendall Jordan, was present by phone.

Motion by Vest, seconded by Jordan to approve the minutes of the February 6th regular meeting.   All voted aye.  Motion carried. 

Motion by Vest, seconded by Jordan to change next week’s meeting to Tuesday February 21 due to the President’s Day Holiday.  All voted aye.  Motion carried.

Motion by Jordan, seconded by Vest to appoint Kendall Jordan to the Northeast Iowa Response Group with Mindy Benson as the alternate with both of these appointees having voting rights.  All voted aye.  Motion carried.

The Board met with Jerry Witt, Zoning Commission, to hear the recommendation for zoning of the old county home, 2840 K Avenue, which was purchased recently Billy Dreesman.  He intends to remodel the facility into a multi-family unit with up to 9 dwelling units.  The Zoning Commission met on January 30th and approved a zoning change from Ag to R-2.  Motion by Jordan, seconded by Vest to approve the recommendation of the Zoning Board on the property.  All voted aye.  Motion carried.

Motion by Jordan, seconded by Vest to set the public hearing for the FY18 County Budget for Monday March 13, 2017 at 10:00 am in the Supervisors meeting room.  All voted aye.  Motion carried.

Motion by Vest, seconded by Jordan to approve the credit card application for the Conservation Office.  This has already been approved by the Conservation Board and the paper work is in order.  All voted aye.  Motion carried.

Motion by Vest, seconded by Jordan to approve the Memorandum of Understanding between the Teamster Local 238 and the Tama County Sheriff’s Office regarding 12 hour shifts.  This will take effect Monday February 20, 2017.  All voted aye.  Motion carried. 

Motion by Vest, seconded by Jordan to approve the contract with Teamster Local 238, EMA Department, which will take effect July 1, 2017 for a three year period.  All voted aye.  Motion carried.

Motion by Vest, seconded by Jordan to approve the contract with the Tama County Road Department Local 886, United Electrical, Radio and Machine Workers which will take effect July 1, 2017 for a three year period.  All voted aye.  Motion carried.

 

The Board met with Lyle Brehm, Tama County Engineer, to get a road projects report.

Motion by Jordan, seconded by Vest to approve the claims for payment as presented.  All voted aye.  Motion carried.

Chairman Anderson adjourned the meeting at 10:12 a.m.
