Board of Supervisors Minutes
August 28, 2017

The Tama County Board of Supervisors met at 9:30 a.m. August 28, 2017.  Present:  1st District Supervisor, Larry Vest; 2nd District Supervisor, Kendall Jordan and 3rd District Supervisor, Dan Anderson.

Motion by Jordan, seconded by Vest to approve the minutes of the August 21st regular meeting.   All voted aye.  Motion carried. 

The Board met with Lyle Brehm, Tama County Engineer, to get a road projects report.   He had the Board sign 2 agreements for resurfacing:  One for Hwy D65 from Hwy 63 to Hwy V37 and one for X Avenue from Hwy 8 south to the cemetery. 

At 10:00 the Board held the First reading of an amendment to Ordinance No. V.1 – An Ordinance Relating to Hazardous Substances And Waste Requiring Persons Responsible For The Storing, Handling and Transportation of Such Substances To Clean Up Spills At Their Own Cost, And Providing Remedies For Tama County To Clean Up Such Spills If The Persons Responsible Fail To Do So and Providing Penalties For The Violation Thereof.  There were no public comments other than from Mindy Benson, EMA/911 Director, who proposed and approves of the changes.    Motion by Vest, seconded by Jordan to approve the first reading of the Hazardous Waste/HAZMAT Ordinance No. V.1.   All voted aye.  Motion carried.
The second reading will be Tuesday September 5, 2017 at 10:00 in the Supervisors meeting room.

Motion by Jordan, seconded by Vest to change next week’s meeting to Tuesday September 5th due to the Labor Day Holiday.  All voted aye.  Motion carried.

Motion by Vest, seconded by Jordan to approve the claims for payment as presented.  All voted aye.  Motion carried.

Chairman Anderson adjourned the meeting at 10:03 a.m.
