Board of Supervisors Minutes
August 14, 2017

The Tama County Board of Supervisors met at 9:30 a.m. August 14, 2017.  Present:  1st District Supervisor, Larry Vest; 2nd District Supervisor, Kendall Jordan and 3rd District Supervisor, Dan Anderson.

Motion by Jordan, seconded by Vest to approve the minutes of the August 7th regular meeting.   All voted aye.  Motion carried. 

Brent Heeren, County Attorney, was present to ask the Board to appoint Mike Bandy as Special Prosecutor for his office.  Motion by Vest, seconded by Jordan to appoint Mike Bandy as Special Prosecutor.  All voted aye.  Motion carried. 

Motion by Vest, seconded by Jordan to set the three (3) public readings to amend language in Ordinance No. V.1 – An Ordinance Relating to Hazardous Substances And Waste Requiring Persons Responsible For The Storing, Handling and Transportation of Such Substances To Clean Up Spills At Their Own Cost, And Providing Remedies For Tama County To Clean Up Such Spills If The Persons Responsible Fail To Do So and Providing Penalties For The Violation Thereof, for August 28, 2017, September 5, 2017 and September 11, 2017 at 10:00 am in the Supervisors board room.  The Board further directs the county auditor to publish a notice for this public hearing in official newspapers for Tama County.   All voted aye.  Motion carried.  Copies of the proposed changes are available for public inspection at the Tama County Auditor’s Office. The public is invited to submit oral and/or written comments on the ordinance.

Motion by Jordan, seconded by Vest to appoint Bruce Lenhart, 1761 340th Street Tama, to the Compensation Board as one of the Supervisor’s representatives.  All voted aye.  Motion carried.

Motion by Jordan, seconded by Vest to approve the claims for payment as presented.  All voted aye.  Motion carried.

Chairman Anderson adjourned the meeting at 9:52 a.m.
