Board of Supervisors Minutes
September 12, 2016
The Tama County Board of Supervisors met at 9:30 a.m. September 12, 2016. Present: 1st District Supervisor, Larry Vest; 2nd District Supervisor, Kendall Jordan and 3rd District Supervisor, Dan Anderson.
Motion by Anderson, seconded by Vest to approve the minutes of the September 6th regular meeting. All voted aye. Motion carried.
At 10:00 the Board held a public hearing regarding the sale of the county home. Chairman Jordan opened the hearing at 10:00am. There were no public comments. At 10:01 Chairman Jordan closed the public hearing. Motion by Vest, seconded by Anderson to approve the following resolution to sell the county home:
WHEREAS, the Tama County Board of Supervisors are offering the county home at 2840 K Avenue, Toledo for sale and,
WHEREAS, the Board took sealed bids for the property and,
WHEREAS, there were two bids submitted and opened and,
WHEREAS, there is a bid from Billy Dreesman, Toledo. IA, in the amount of $17,600.00 the Board would like to accept and,
WHEREAS, there were no public comments on this sale of this public property,
THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that the Tama County Board of Supervisors accept the bid from Billy Dreesman, Toledo, IA, in the amount of $17,600.00 for the property at 2840 K Avenue, Toledo, IA, in Section 2 Toledo Township in Tama County Iowa. A survey will be done to determine the exact amount of acres to be included in the sale.
Roll call vote: Vest, aye; Jordan, aye; Anderson, aye. Resolution passed and adopted this 12th day of September 2016. Kendall Jordan, Chairman, Board of Supervisors. Laura Kopsa, County Auditor.
Motion by Vest, seconded by Anderson to have the survey for the county home property delivered to their attorney to prepare the official documents for this sale, including a permanent easement, and then direct the Chairman to sign the documents when they are ready. All voted aye. Motion carried.
The Board met with Bob Etzel, Conservation Director and Chris Anderson, County Naturalist, to hear a report about the environmental education opportunities they offer and the work they do at the county lake and nature center for public, private and school programs.
Motion by Vest, seconded by Anderson to approve the claims for payment as presented. All voted aye. Motion carried.
Chairman Jordan adjourned the meeting at 10:52 a.m.
