Board of Supervisors Minutes
September 6, 2016
The Tama County Board of Supervisors met at 9:30 a.m. September 6, 2016. Present: 1st District Supervisor, Larry Vest; 2nd District Supervisor, Kendall Jordan and 3rd District Supervisor, Dan Anderson.
Motion by Anderson, seconded by Vest to approve the minutes of the August 29th regular meeting. All voted aye. Motion carried.
The Board met with Lyle Brehm, Tama County Engineer, to get a road projects report.
Dennis Kucera, Sheriff, presented the Board with law enforcement contracts to be approved and signed. Motion by Anderson, seconded by Vest to approve and authorize the Chair to sign the law enforcement contracts with: Chelsea, Clutier, Dysart, Elberon, Garwin, Lincoln and Traer. All voted aye. Motion carried.
Motion by Vest, seconded by Anderson to approve the following resolution for a 28E Agreement between the Mid Iowa Drug Task Force and Grundy, Hardin, Marshall and Tama counties and municipalities of Dysart, Eldora, Iowa Falls, Marshalltown and Tama:
WHEREAS, it is in the mutual best interests of counties and municipalities in the Four County area of the Governor’s Office of Drug Control Policy Task Force (Comprised of Grundy, Hardin, Marshall and Tama Counties, and municipalities of Dysart, Eldora, Iowa Falls, Marshalltown, and Tama to coordinate their drug law investigation, enforcement, and prosecution efforts and to share resources available through various sources of funding; and
WHEREAS, Iowa Code Chapter 28E provides guidelines and mechanisms for such coordination through a 28E agreement; and
WHEREAS, in the course of the agencies’ and officers’ investigation and enforcement of drug laws, it may become necessary for officers to act outside of their normal jurisdiction and/or it may be advantageous for law enforcement agencies to share resources on a request-for-assistance basis; and
WHEREAS, it is necessary and desirable to stipulate to the scope of the participating agencies’ and officers’ authority pursuant to Iowa Code 28D; and
WHEREAS, the below named counties and municipalities desire to enter into a 28E/28D Agreement for purposes of coordinating drug law investigation, enforcement, and prosecution efforts and stipulating their respective rights and responsibilities in conjunction therewith.
THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that Tama County shall enter into a 28E Agreement with the Mid Iowa Drug Task Force and Grundy, Hardin, Marshall and Tama counties and municipalities of Dysart, Eldora, Iowa Falls, Marshalltown and Tama.
Roll call vote: Vest, aye; Jordan, aye; Anderson, aye. Resolution passed and adopted this 6th day of September 2016. Kendall Jordan, Chairman, Board of Supervisors. Laura Kopsa, County Auditor.
Motion by Vest, seconded by Anderson to approve the claims for payment as presented. All voted aye. Motion carried.
