Board of Supervisors Minutes
August 15, 2016

The Tama County Board of Supervisors met at 9:30 a.m. August 15, 2016.  Present:  1st District Supervisor, Larry Vest; 2nd District Supervisor, Kendall Jordan and 3rd District Supervisor, Dan Anderson.

Motion by Anderson, seconded by Vest to approve the minutes of the August 8th regular meeting.   All voted aye.  Motion carried. 

The Board met with Lyle Brehm, Tama County Engineer, to get a road projects report.

Motion by Vest, seconded by Anderson to allow the use of the courthouse grounds for the Iowa 99 County Bible Reading Marathon as requested by Pastor Kenny Mervin from the Tama Meskwaki Celebration Assembly Church.  This was a proclamation signed by Iowa Governor Terry Branstad.  This will take place September 6th through the 13th from 8 am to 6 pm each day.  All voted aye.  Motion carried.

The Board met with Jane Underwood, from Bernie Lowe & Associates to discuss the fiscal year end figures for 2016 for the health insurance.

Motion by Vest, seconded by Anderson to set a public hearing for the sale of the county home:
RESOLUTION FOR PUBLIC HEARING ON SALE OF
COUNTY HOME PROPERTY
RESOLUTION 8-15-2016A
WHEREAS, The Tama County Board of Supervisors desire to sell the county home building a small amount of land around it and,
WHEREAS, sealed bids have been received and opened at a Board of Supervisors meeting on August 8, 2016 and,
WHEREAS, there is a bid they would like to accept,
THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that a hearing on the proposed sale of the Tama County Home shall take place at 10:00 am on September 12, 2016 in the Supervisors board room. 
Roll call vote:  Vest, aye.  Jordan, aye.  Anderson, aye. Resolution passed and approved this 15th day of August, 2016.  Kendall Jordan, Chairman, Board of Supervisors.  Laura Kopsa, Tama County Auditor.

Mindy Benson, 911/EMA Director, was present to receive recognition from Kelsey Angle of the National Weather Service for making Tama County a storm ready county. 

Motion by Anderson, seconded by Vest to approve the claims for payment as presented.  All voted aye.  Motion carried.
