Board of Supervisors Minutes
April 18, 2016

The Tama County Board of Supervisors met at 9:30 a.m. April 18, 2016.  Present:  1st District Supervisor, Larry Vest; 2nd District Supervisor, Kendall Jordan and 3rd District Supervisor, Dan Anderson.

Motion by Anderson, seconded by Vest to approve the minutes of the April 11th regular meeting.   All voted aye.  Motion carried. 

The Board met with Lyle Brehm, Tama County Engineer, to get a road projects report. 

Tammy Wise, Insurance Administrator, was present to ask the Board to approve the renewal with Wellmark for the county health insurance.  Motion by Vest, seconded by Anderson to approve the renewal and authorize the Chair to sign.  All voted aye.  Motion carried.  She also asked the board to consider the purchase of Automated External Defibrillators for the Administration Building, courthouse and possibly the county lake.  This was discussed at a recent safety meeting she attended and this is being recommended for counties to consider purchasing.  She will check into pricing. 

The Board met with Larry Jones, NRCS Toledo, to discuss the Middle Cedar Watershed Management Authority Agreement.  They would like Tama County to support/join this.  It requires no county funds and if they choose, Tama County can be represented on the Board.  The supervisors asked to have some changes made to the agreement and bring it back next week.  No action taken.

Mindy Benson, 911/EMA Director, was present to discuss the county’s Local Emergency Planning Committee (LEPC).  She is recommending they disband this commission and join with Northeast Iowa Response Group (NIRG) to handle these situations.  She will discuss at the next LEPC meeting and report back to the supervisors. 

Motion by Anderson, seconded by Vest to approve the liquor permit for Fox Ridge Winery, Traer.  All voted aye.  Motion carried. 

Motion by Anderson, seconded by Vest to approve the claims for payment as presented.  All voted aye.  Motion carried.

Chairman Jordan adjourned the meeting at 10:15 a.m.
