Board of Supervisors Minutes
April 4, 2016
The Tama County Board of Supervisors met at 9:30 a.m. April 4, 2016. Present: 1st District Supervisor, Larry Vest; 2nd District Supervisor, Kendall Jordan was absent until 9:50, and 3rd District Supervisor, Dan Anderson.
Motion by Vest, seconded by Anderson to approve the minutes of the March 28th regular meeting. All voted aye. Motion carried.
The Board met with Lyle Brehm, Tama County Engineer, to get a road projects report.
The Board presented years of service awards to the following employees:
45 years: Gary Tomas, Road Dept.
40 years: Gerald Husak,Road Dept., Craig Konicek, Road Dept.
30 years: Kendall Kriz, Road Dept., George Buresh, Road Dept., Terry Dvorak, Road Dept.
25 years: Kenneth Wiebensohn, Road Dept., Dixie Caloud, Assessor Office
20 years: Laura Kopsa, Auditor Office, Chad Hansen, Sheriff Dept., Wesley Sebetka, Sheriff Dept.,
Kira Doyle, Sheriff Dept., Ginny Young, Public Health Office
15 years: Chad Princehouse, Road Dept.
10 years: Michelle Yuska, Treasurer Office, Angie Princehouse, Recorder Office, Deborah Kupka,
Recorder Office, Dawn Steuhm, Sheriff Dept., Rodney Kolder, Road Dept., Melissa
Bergom, EMA Dept.
5 years: Nicole Stinn, Road Dept., Justin Kupka, Road Dept., Karen Rohrs, Auditor Office,

The Board wishes to thank these employees for their many years of service.
Motion by Vest, seconded by Anderson to set the canvas for the South Tama School Special Election for April 11th at 10:30 am. All voted aye. Motion carried.
The Board has received a request to suspend property taxes on property owned by Luella Hora, Clutier. There is documentation from the Department of Human Services to support this request. This does not eliminate the taxes, it lets them accumulate until the property is sold and the total accumulated amount is due at the time of selling the property. Motion by Vest, seconded by Anderson to allow the request for a tax suspension on property owned by Luella Hora, Clutier. All voted aye. Motion carried.
Motion by Vest, seconded by Anderson to appoint the following employees as Safety Officers for the County as Safety Officers for the County: Lyle Brehm, Engineer; Dirk Henle, Maintenance; Craig Wise, Conservation; Ron Green and Doug Carlson, Road Department. All voted aye. Motion carried.
The Board discussed supervisory duties for the Mental Health Advocate. This is a position with the County that was supervised by the State but two years ago the State passed on to the Counties. The supervisors see no need to change how it has been done since they gained supervision.
Motion by Vest, seconded by Anderson to approve the claims for payment as presented. All voted aye. Motion carried.
